Magnetic North Soul

Spin the needle
True north or dare
To follow the magnetic pull
Of your soul
Into the blizzard
Your silhouette flickering
In the fire lit window
Growing fainter
With each step

Freediving for air

Freediving into the blue. I found abalone hiding under stones. I found waves that washed over me like days long gone. The stingrays sleeping in the sand. Tonight I fear their gracefulness in dreams of swaying kelp beds.

Black and White is a Grey Area

Color is the new black
And white photo album
Slowly fading to sepia tones
Of deaf
Our days like the smiles we only make for the camera
Concealing grey memories that burn as strong as white flame in our hearts

Summerized

Look at the time
It's now
This is when we resolarize
Falling backwards off the waterfall
Plunging deep into turquoise summer
We'll never surface again
To sit under shady trees
Waiting for another amber autumn to return

The Fading North

We fell like snow over icy shores
I still remember the smell of winter on your skin
In dreams we forget every morning

Snowblind

White on white
Against the frozen sun
Our minds eye burns from the brilliance
Of memories never shared
Lost under weeping snow drifts
In this icy desert we call home

Strangeways

Will we ever find our way back from strangeways?

When we passed our fingers through the candle flame

And no one cared and there was no one to blame

And the light at the end of the tunnel was the gravy train

That we rode again and again

Waving goodbye to lovers we left behind

Ocean Snow

A sea of snow rolls across the bay

The day I fell in

That we now we remember from apartment living rooms

Painted cold white

Powerlessplay

We rose from ashes forgotten by the fire

We fell from stars that belong in the sky

Once we were real

Swimming in the river every day until the end of summer

Now just memories that burn as deep as they fade

Into the last glimpse of sunset

Beneath Lower Skies

Touch the fading summer
Under burning skylight wonder
Where shadows once cast

Taste the falling rain bed
Beyond our broken homestead
Forgotten by the past

Every day we wander alone in this smaller wilderness

Growing older beneath these lower skies

Dont Fear the Silence

Every time we walk into the darkness
Every time we fall into the fire
I hear you calling without a sound

Don't fear the silence

Tonight we'll sing the songs that disappear.

When we wake from dreams of sorrow.

Fading Roots

Canadian summers fade into autumn.

The roots that held up the river bank where we would sit together have grown weak.

Childhood promises are the first to be broken.

The last to be forgotten.

Emotional Stars

The sky falls from dying stars that burnt through skin.

And flicker deep within our hearts.

Northern lights lead the way to somewhere.

Your silhouette slowly disappearing on the horizon.

By tomorrow the snow will have covered your tracks.

Embers part II

Sifting through the ashes of burnt bridges.

I find only embers burning every night in my sleep.

That I tried so hard to extinguish before we grew too old to heal.

Sunday, 11 December 2011

Embers

Embers ascend into aurora.

Hissing charcoal our last memory before dreams of shimmering green flame.

For a moment I wake.

Stars shine so cold and hard.

Remind me they are always there. It's our own light that blinds us to their existence.

In the morning perfect white ash.

Offers faint promises of resurrection that go unfulfilled.

Diver

The Orca's cry submerged in a divers memory.

To resurface into the unforgiving swell. There's never a painless time to remember.

Things lost deep. Hidden in the swaying kelp forests below.

Cheyenne

Here we go
We're almost through
Take it all and start again
And I know just where we stand

And I was lost
When we almost fell
Into empty space again
And I don't know where to land

And I can see we're almost flying

Touch the stars and burn
But we're still crying

Cheyenne

One day we'll be free again

One day we'll be free again

Icify

static sun frozen in a memory of turquoise

a glimpse of autumn icifies our arctic soul

Unrecurring Dream

In a forgotten dream we're almost flying
and barely leave footprints in the snow

We kayak past drifting ice packs
And spend an endless summer on the melting shore

Face Surreality

Reality drifts into dreams at night.
Dreams disappear into reality when I awake
and their sadness lasts until noon.
